Glossary

Every term the application and this documentation use, defined once.

Roles and access

TermDefinition
AdministratorA user with rights to configure access, create employee accounts and manage the organisation.
EmployeeA user with a limited set of rights, depending on their job role.
My AccountThe section holding your account details, organisation, employee, plan, order and activity-log settings. Administrator only.
Employee accountAn account created by the administrator for an employee. Limited functionality, and no My Account area of its own.
Activity logThe journal of every operation performed in the program.

Objects and entities

TermDefinition
ModuleAn operating mode: Warehouse or Production.
WarehouseA storage location for steel sections. Its function is storage.
Production areaA location for temporarily placing material for work orders. Not for permanent storage.
SupplierThe party stock bars are received from. Every goods received note (GRN) names one, which is what makes a bar traceable.
ProfileA metal product with parameters — designation, name, material, standard.
PartA structural element with a defined length, profile, cut angles and restrictions.
MaterialThe type of metal or alloy a profile is made of. Affects cutting parameters, part compatibility and order generation.
Stock barAn element of a given length, to be cut up.
RemnantA leftover after cutting that is long enough to be worth using again.

Production and projects

TermDefinition
ProjectA metal-cutting job combining several drawing sets.
Drawing setA bound collection of drawings submitted to production, identified by a code.
Cutting stageA part of a project allocated for separate production.

Lengths

TermDefinition
Part lengthThe natural length of the part. This is what participates in cutting when a CNC machine is selected.
Blank lengthThe length that results from cutting on a bandsaw. KRON Cutting determines the predominant angle at the end and may build it up, which makes the blank longer than the part.

Accounting and identifiers

TermDefinition
BatchA group of items received on a single document. The batch number matches the goods received note (GRN) number.
Item codeThe identifier shared by every warehouse item with identical geometry and material.
TagA unique number stamped on a remnant at the moment of production, in 10-10-10 format. Serves as its batch number and permanent identifier.
Work orderThe internal document that carries a stage of the production process to the floor: it reserves the stock bars and tracks completion.

Documents

Types: Receipt (the goods received note, GRN) · Transfer · Write-off · Remnant Receipt · Disposal · Production · Supply Request · Procurement Request.

StatusMeaning
DraftThe document has been created but not yet accepted.
In ProgressThe document is being executed, and has been partially fulfilled.
CompletedThe operation is finished.
CancelledThe document is voided.
